The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Aram Muhammad, expressed, on Sunday, his optimism about the end of the salary crisis for the region’s employees after the recent rapprochement between Erbil and Baghdad, stressing that this rapprochement will solve many problems in the education sector.
Muhammad said, “We hope that the salary situation will improve next year and that we will hear good and happy news, especially after the current rapprochement between the governments of Erbil and Baghdad, which will contribute to solving this and other problems.”
He pointed to the “important role” played by scientific and administrative cadres in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, universities and institutes in reducing the burdens of the financial crisis on the educational process.
Regarding the appointment of top graduates in universities and colleges, the minister stressed the colleges’ need for top graduates, “because many professors expire their legal terms of service in universities and are referred to retirement, and this creates a vacancy in their positions, but we expect that after the situation stabilizes with Baghdad in light of this current rapprochement, this problem will be solved.” We have job seats available for top graduates.”
Regarding the problem of the internal departments in the universities of the region, he pointed out that “the design of the internal departments goes back more than 20 years and now the absorptive capacity of the universities has increased much more than before. There are hundreds of students from Kirkuk, Khanaqin and the rest of the regions outside the region residing in the internal departments and despite the effects of the financial crisis, we were able to To address some of this crisis, we have rented houses to accommodate some internal department students.”
