The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs confirmed, on Saturday, that the total number of beneficiaries of social assistance reaches 7 million and 600 thousand people, while indicating that its annual budget exceeds 6 trillion dinars.
The head of the Social Protection Authority, Ahmed Khalaf, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the number of beneficiaries of people with disabilities is 410 thousand beneficiaries and the number of beneficiaries of the full-time appointee salary is 366 thousand", noting that "the number of those covered by the social protection umbrella since the formation of the government until now has reached 961 thousand families".
He added that "the total number of those covered by social protection is 7 million and 600 thousand people", indicating that "470 billion are spent monthly to finance social protection salaries".
He pointed out that "the ministry's budget for the current year is 6 trillion and 200 billion Iraqi dinars".
