    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The American network "CNN" published a report in which it confirmed the "increase" in the number of Western tourists heading to Iraq at "unprecedented" rates since 2003 until today, confirming that the large increase in the number of tourists to Iraq has now become a "trend" among Western tourists. [/rtl]
The network said, according to what was translated by "Baghdad Today", that Western tourism companies, especially British ones, recorded a significant increase this year in the number of foreign tourists heading to federal Iraq, after Western tourism was confined in previous years to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
She continued: "Baghdad, Hillah and Maysan, in addition to Basra, have become the most important tourist destinations visited by tourists coming from Western countries during the current year, despite the Western governments issuing continuous warnings to their citizens against traveling to Iraq, which did not hinder the rapid growth in the number of tourists heading to Iraq."
Robert Kyle, a British tourism company manager, confirmed to the network that the rapid increase in the number of Western tourists wishing to travel to Iraq has prompted his company to increase the number of annual trips from one trip per year to four trips.
CNN also confirmed that Iraq has not only become a “trend” for foreign tourists, but has also become a rare tourist destination for “women-only” trips, explaining that “although Iraq may seem like a country where women cannot travel easily, entrepreneur Janet Newnham from Ireland has launched a successful company that relies on organizing tourist trips to Iraq that are limited to women only, explaining that her trips include visits to the holy sites in Karbala and Najaf.”
The network expected that Iraq would witness a greater increase in the number of foreign tourists during the coming year, with the Iraqi government’s efforts to declare Baghdad the Arab Tourism Capital for the year 2025, which it stressed would play a positive role in attracting more Western tourists to the country, which it said most Westerners do not yet know that they can officially visit it as part of tourist trips.
