Turkish incursion into Iraqi territory has entered deep: Criticism of the cooperation agreement with Ankara

Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Waad Al-Qaddo, confirmed that Turkish forces have penetrated 185 kilometers into Iraqi territory, indicating that this penetration poses a direct threat to Iraqi national security.
Al-Qaddo explained in press statements that “what has been happening in northern Iraq in terms of Turkish escalation for several months constitutes a serious source of threat,” noting that “Turkish forces are currently stationed in locations 185 kilometers away from the border strip between the two countries, which constitutes a clear occupation.”
Al-Qaddo added, “The Iraqi people must be aware of the size of the Turkish presence, which currently includes 80 sites, including large bases, outposts, and military barracks equipped with heavy weapons capable of targeting any city in the country, in addition to 14 airstrips and intelligence and intelligence centers.”
Al-Qaddo pointed out that “the Turkish forces are now only 28 kilometers away from Nineveh,” calling on the government to take a clear position and urgent intervention due to the seriousness of the situation.
In a related context, member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Ahmed Al-Moussawi, stated during a press conference that “the security agreement with Turkey was disappointing, as it replaced the paragraph on scheduling the withdrawal of Turkish forces with a paragraph on mutual respect for the sovereignty of the two countries.” Al-Moussawi added that “the agreement did not include a paragraph on removing Turkish forces from Iraq, which is completely unacceptable.”
Turkish forces continue their military operations in the provinces of Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah, which has resulted in civilian casualties and the displacement of many families, amid growing criticism of the security agreement that allows the Turkish military presence in the country.
