    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi stressed, today, Thursday (September 5, 2024), the necessity of finalizing the draft of the Trade Unions Law.
Al-Asadi said during his intervention in the discussion session held by the International Labor Organization in Geneva, according to a statement by the Ministry of Labor received by "Baghdad Today", that "the draft law on labor unions contains different points of view and observations, all of which are open to discussion and resolution. It is not necessary for the draft law to be completely consistent with the organization's vision, but it is important that it does not conflict with its standards."
He stressed that "all parties (the government, the parliamentary labor committee, unions, and employers) have a common interest in promoting economic and social stability," adding, "It must be emphasized that any amendment to the law must ensure the protection of workers' rights, such as the right to organize, representation, and collective bargaining, while maintaining a balance between these rights and the rights of employers."
