    Baghdad/Al-Masala: The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, Special Forces, confirmed today, Friday, that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, attaches great importance to the file of completing the capabilities of air defense and air force, noting that Iraq has achieved advanced levels in air defense and installed radars at high levels.
    Rasool said, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has attached great importance to the file of completing the capabilities of the Iraqi air defense, air force, and army aviation,” indicating that “Iraq has achieved advanced levels in the matter of the air defense system, in addition to installing radars at high, medium, and low levels.”
    He stated that "there are many technical offers in this regard," noting "the continuation of building air defense capabilities in a way that secures Iraq's skies and defends its sovereignty."
    Earlier, Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed the continuation of strengthening air defense capabilities and monitoring the airspace as part of the phase of ending the mission of the international coalition in Iraq.
    During the opening of the new Air Defense Command Operations Center, Al-Sudani praised “the efforts of the leaders and officers who participated in completing and operating this center, which was established in cooperation with the French company Thales, which specializes in defense equipment, on the path of plans to develop the armament of our armed forces in all its branches,” stressing that “the government has allocated approximately 5 trillion dinars for these goals, including 3 trillion in the 2024 budget, and within the project to enhance armament capabilities.”
