The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities received offers from 13 Egyptian companies to implement various projects in the roads and bridges sector in the country. The official spokesman for the ministry, Nabil Al-Saffar, told Al-Sabah: “The Minister of Construction, Benkin Rikani, met with a high-level Egyptian delegation that includes the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport and Industry, and representatives of 13 of the largest Egyptian companies specialized in roads and bridges.” He added that the delegation’s visit aims to follow up on the traffic congestion relief projects implemented by these companies, find out their completion rates, and address any delays or obstacles facing implementation, noting that his ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian side to participate in implementing traffic congestion relief projects. Al-Saffar explained that the projects include the second Al-Sarrafiya Bridge with the Buratha and Al-Sarrafiya bridges, in addition to the project to build bridges and a tunnel at the Rashid Camp intersection, noting that these companies have submitted their requests to implement projects in the field of roads and bridges in Baghdad and the governorates and to participate in the urban campaign implemented by the ministry, especially since the Arab Republic of Egypt has a pioneering experience in the field of building bridges and modern roads. In the same context, he confirmed that Egyptian companies have expressed their readiness to implement projects in other fields such as building modern residential cities, such as the (Ali Al-Wardi) residential city in Al-Nahrawan, which was referred to a specialized Egyptian company, especially since the Egyptian companies that received projects in the country have achieved great successes and proven their worth in transferring their expertise to the country.
