    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, today, Wednesday (October 2, 2024), the necessity for the European Union to take more steps to stop the ongoing Zionist aggression on Lebanon and Gaza.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Al-Sudani received, today, Wednesday, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq, Elicia Rico," indicating that "Al-Sudani congratulated Rico on the occasion of assuming her duties in Iraq."
According to the statement, the Prime Minister referred to "the depth of relations between Iraq and Spain, which are based on a long legacy of cooperation and bilateral partnerships, and were crowned by the visit of the Spanish Prime Minister to Iraq in December of last year."
The Prime Minister appreciated "the Spanish position on the Palestinian issue, which was represented by its efforts to stop the war and recognize the State of Palestine," stressing "the need for the European Union to take more steps towards pressuring to stop the ongoing Zionist aggression on Lebanon and Gaza, which threatens to expand the conflict throughout the region."
For her part, Rico confirmed "Spain's commitment to the joint Iraqi-American declaration to end the mission of the international coalition," expressing "her country's desire to sign a memorandum of understanding in order to move to a bilateral partnership relationship, after Spain participated in the coalition that was formed in 2014 to fight ISIS."
