The local government in Basra announced today, Saturday, the end of the draw for 13,000 job positions out of 339,000 applicants, which took place in the governorate hall and in the presence of the local government, both executive and legislative.
The administrative deputy of the governor, Maher Al-Amiri, said during a press conference following the announcement of the results of the draw, which was attended by Al-Mirbad correspondent, that the names of 255,000 applicants out of 339,000 were sorted, 12,450 winners were announced, and the remaining 857 are minorities, war victims, and people with disabilities, as some of their data was not available and they did not attach a letter of support, and they were postponed until their data was completed, and most of them are Christians and Mandaeans.
Al-Amiri added that the government has formed a committee to interview the winners alphabetically, as well as a committee to object to the results of the draw.
For his part, Basra Provincial Council member Shukr Mahmoud explained that they, as representatives of the council, attended the draw today and described it as transparent. It was conducted in front of everyone and ended. It is the right of those whose names have not been revealed and they have the right to object. Committees will be formed in this regard.
In addition, the technical deputy of the governor, Zaid Al-Emara, praised the efforts of the committee that supervised the sorting of names, which he said took a long period of time due to some intersections that occurred, including the names of those who applied for it, some of whom had contracts or employees.
The emirate confirmed that a program had been prepared and examined by the security services with high efficiency and specialized cadres, and the data of the remaining names would be kept.
He pointed out that Basra is about to open strategic projects, including the development road and the Faw port, and many opportunities will be launched, and there are programs to train young people to integrate them into the private sector.
The emirate expected that they would receive many objections, stressing that Governor Asaad Al-Eidani rejected all exceptions and the draw was neutral.
In addition, the head of the Integrity Committee in the Basra Council, Bidaa Nahi, said that they had reviewed the draw and confirmed that it was random, transparent and fair, and that the names were sorted according to the federal budget law.
