Committees to establish an artificial intelligence department in vocational schools

The Ministry of Education intends to open an artificial intelligence major in vocational schools at the beginning of the next academic year 2025-2026.
The Director General of the General Directorate of Vocational Education in the Ministry, Mahmoud Al-Maliki, told Al-Sabah: The Directorate is preparing an extensive study to establish an artificial intelligence department in vocational education schools in Baghdad and the governorates at the beginning of the next academic year.
He added that the Directorate is currently preparing a mechanism for everything related to the aforementioned specialization, as it is new and requires extensive study for the purpose of creating and teaching it and providing specialized educational bodies in vocational schools.
Al-Maliki explained that the department is one of the most important specializations in the field of vocational education at the global level, so the directorate is keen to create new specializations with the aim of keeping pace with the labor market in modern ways that are compatible with the capabilities of the country and the vocational student.
He pointed out that specialized committees in the field of artificial intelligence have been formed to determine the requirements for establishing the department, and that work is underway to follow a special mechanism to settle the educational staff in vocational schools.
He added that there are discussions on the directorate's plan for the current academic year 2024-2025 to address the obstacles, especially the sports science schools as they are among the recently established departments, with the aim of preparing the teaching staff and the mechanism for accepting students, in addition to preparing a special plan in coordination with the administrations of vocational schools to settle the educational staff to address the vacancy and surplus and distribute them correctly according to the controls.
