The Legal Committee of the House of Representatives expressed its rejection of any American and European interference in the work of the Council regarding the amendment of the Personal Status Law on Saturday.
Committee member Aref Al-Hamami said, "The committee rejects international statements and interference in the work of the Council of Representatives and the legislation of laws. Neither the European Union, nor America, nor other countries have the right to interfere in Iraqi affairs."
He explained that "the Council of Representatives does not listen to such voices, and it is continuing its work, and the approval of the amendment of the Personal Status Law will be in the next session of the Council."
Al-Hamami, a member of the State of Law Coalition bloc, pointed out that "the Parliamentary Legal Committee has taken into account the observations of the political blocs and members of the Council of Representatives, and the amendment of the Personal Status Law is now ready for voting, and it will be put up for voting in the next session of the Council."
