    The spokesman for the Oil Ministry, Assem Jihad said Iraq was released Saturday the first shipment of liquid gas estimated at "2000" tons.

    He said that after Iraq's success in increasing gas production, the focus position now in the development of this sector through the creation of the Basra Gas Company and the investment associated gas operations of oil production, which constitutes 7% of the gas resources, stressing that Iraq is planning to become the one producing and gas exporting countries in the region and the world.
    It referred to as the oil ministry announced Saturday, 02/07/2016 from the export of the first shipment of liquefied natural gas through a dedicated port for the export of gas in the province of Basra, while suggesting it is in the process of implementing a strategic plan aimed at ending the phenomenon associated with the extraction of oil gas flaring by 2018.
    The agent said the oil ministry for gas Hamid Zubai during a press conference in the port of export of gas in the area of ​​Umm Qasr, Iraq was able for the first time to export 2,000 tons of compressed liquefied gas surplus for local need, noting that the shipment will be followed by other shipments in the near future, as Iraq to overcome self-sufficiency in gas, which is used in the cooking stage, and has become a strategic stocks of this article, therefore, turned to join the countries exporting liquefied natural gas after it was one of the importing countries.
