Diplomatic missions between Iran and Saudi Arabia will resume soon

Arabic and International Thursday, 24 August 2017

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced the return of diplomatic missions with Saudi Arabia soon.
In an interview with Sky Press, Zarif said Iranian and Saudi diplomatic delegations would exchange visits after the end of the pilgrimage season.
Zarif confirmed that the two sides will issue visas to delegations, which will inspect their embassies.
Zarif called on Saudi Arabia to take similar steps to restore relations between the two countries, after tension and interruption for several years.
"The steps taken by Iran are of a kind of dialogue. We have repeatedly declared our readiness for dialogue with Saudi Arabia and are exerting all our efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in the region," he said.
"Unfortunately, Saudi Arabia's practices are not in this context, and its interests are being sought to raise tensions in the region, as we see two years of Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen, and Riyadh has suffered heavy losses, and the same in Bahrain and Syria."
"Iran always calls for good relations with its neighbors, but we see that Saudi Arabia's policies in the region are subversive and have damaged them," he said.
