LONDON (Reuters) - Iraq plans to launch a new type of crude oil from Basra after new support and more stability in existing species, the British newspaper Platt reported on Wednesday.
"The new grade of crude oil will have a specific weight of 29 to 30 degrees with 2 percent sulfur," the newspaper quoted Deputy General Manager of Iraq's Sumo Oil Marketing Company Ali Nizar al-Shatri as saying.
"Basra's heavy crude will remain unchanged at 23 degrees and 4 percent of the sulfur, while Basrah light will become lighter, rising to 34 degrees from the current average of 29 to 31 degrees," he said.
