Shafaq News/ President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani discussed a number of topics of common interest during his meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kotrashev, this morning, Tuesday.
A statement issued by the presidency of the region today stated that President Nechirvan Barzani and the ambassador discussed Russia's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the Kurdistan Parliament elections.
The statement added that the two sides stressed the importance of the elections for the Kurdistan Region, wishing for a sound and successful election campaign as well as the voting process, and expressed their expectations and opinions regarding the election results and the political process in the Kurdistan Region.
The latest developments in the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East and its repercussions were another aspect of the meeting, which was attended by the Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, according to the statement.
