    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
An informed source revealed, today, Tuesday (October 1, 2024), the entry of what he called the "air peak" into two bases where American forces are deployed in Iraq.
The source told Baghdad Today, "Ain al-Assad and al-Harir bases witnessed, in the early hours of dawn, unprecedented activity of heavy helicopters landing and flying at an air peak that had not been recorded before," noting that "all indications point to the beginning of the transfer of modern air defense equipment, especially since the White House announced yesterday a decision to enhance the capabilities of air defense systems at its bases in Iraq and Syria."
He added, "There is no confirmed information that this peak may be accompanied by strengthening the combat capabilities of the bases or transferring elite forces, but all indications indicate that this activity is to transfer air system equipment or that they are disassembled medium-range air systems."
He continued: "Both bases are still implementing security closure measures in terms of the state of maximum alert and reducing movement at the entrances," noting that "these measures have been in effect for nearly four days against the backdrop of the accelerating events in Lebanon."
The source confirmed that "the peak weather lasted for about four hours before it ended and things returned to normal, with heavy drone flights observed in the airspace."
A security source reported earlier today, Tuesday (October 1, 2024), that the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport was targeted with missiles, while indicating that air navigation was temporarily suspended at the airport.
The source told Baghdad Today, "Missiles fell on the Victoria base and the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport," indicating that "the bombing came from the direction of the Al-Amiriya area and was confronted by the base's special system."
The source added, "Air traffic has been temporarily halted in the airspace of the capital's airport, and the path of incoming aircraft has been diverted to a safe destination."
