Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, during his visit to the Joint Operations Command headquarters,
directed the security forces on Tuesday to “raise” the level of readiness in the face of “dangers threatening the country.”
During his visit to the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in Baghdad, Al-Sudani stressed, according to a statement from his office, the importance of “exerting maximum efforts to maintain security throughout the country, and continuing to enhance the capabilities of the security forces.”
The statement said, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces met with a number of senior security leaders, and was briefed on the security situation in various areas of military responsibility, the progress of implementing security plans, the challenges facing military agencies and formations of all kinds, and the level of readiness to ward off any dangers and anything that could disturb security and stability."
Al-Sudani stressed the need to enhance the capabilities of the security forces "in the face of the dangers that may threaten the country, in light of the start of implementing the joint declaration with the United States regarding ending the mission of the international coalition in Iraq within a year."
Earlier on Tuesday, Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Muqdad al-Moussawi said, “The Iraqi security sectors have entered Alert (C).”
Events in the region have escalated in the past few hours, after Iran launched a missile attack against Israel.
"The air force continues to operate at full capacity, and tonight it will continue to carry out powerful strikes in the Middle East, as it has done throughout the past year," Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said Tuesday.
