    Economy News - Baghdad
The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, confirmed on Monday that there are no hazardous materials in the ports, while stressing the commitment to implementing international controls related to maritime work and international laws and regulations.
Al-Fartousi said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "we visited the ports today to see the progress of work and the procedures taken in accordance with the instructions of international organizations concerned with the maritime sector," explaining that "the General Company for Ports is in a state of continuous development and transformation to work according to international systems."

He added that "a number of streets have been added to the service in order to create a smooth flow in the work of the ports according to international requirements," indicating that "the General Company for Ports and the Iraqi Maritime Sector is committed to implementing all international controls related to maritime work, and we strive to advance our maritime institutions."

He pointed out that "the General Company for Ports of Iraq operates according to international laws and regulations," stressing that "there are no hazardous materials inside the ports at all, and we are keen on the security and safety of our ports completely."

He pointed out that "work will begin very soon to implement Bridge No. (2), specifically at the exit of the road - the twenty platforms - and at the same time there is a circular road that connects these platforms to the welcome square, which is one of the new projects, and there is a road in which work has reached advanced stages, as concrete pouring operations have begun to connect the platforms on the Khor Al-Zubair Canal inside Umm Qasr Port in the welcome square and the main roads," noting that "the company is working to establish an integrated spider network that secures work for more than 10 to 15 years with high fluidity to begin the competition process," explaining that "the company has begun gradual digital transformation operations."
