Spokesman of the Coalition for the Restoration of Legitimacy in Yemen, Col. Turki Al-Malki, said: "The activation of the Bab al-Mandab protection measures with our international partners has started."
"The measures will guarantee the freedom of international trade through Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea," Maliki said in remarks carried by Al Arabiya television.
Maliki said earlier in the day that the leadership of the coalition forces conducted during the past days an assessment of all hostilities, "terrorist", carried out by the Houthi militia backed by Iran, which aims at the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Bab al-Mandab and southern Red Sea, Two Saudi oil tankers.
Maliki stressed that "the continuation of the Houthi militias backed by Iran in this terrorist approach, will cause an environmental disaster and economic damage to the interests of the countries of the region and the world."
