In a new escalating message launched by Turkey that "we will continue to bomb despite objections," Iraq is in the range of statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his officials under the pretext of the PKK in the north of the country.
"Our struggle against the terrorist organizations in Gabor and Goody in northern Iraq will continue unabated, and our fighters destroyed the terrorist hideouts in Sinjar and Qara Jag," Erdogan said on Saturday in a speech in the state of Denizli during the opening of a number of development projects.
He stressed that his country will not hesitate to protect its security and will intervene against any risks lurking anywhere, according to the newspaper "Sabah" Turkish.
This comes after the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Ankara will continue to hit the positions of the PKK in northern Iraq.
A spokesman for the ministry, the protector of Aksoy, said the activities of the PKK in the territory of Iraq and Syria is a national security issue for Turkey, describing the air strikes, launched by Turkey on Kurdish areas in northern Iraq as a self-defense.
The spokesman claimed that Turkey carried out these raids because of the lack of action by the Iraqi government against the Labor Party.
He stressed that the Turkish operations in the war on terrorism, will continue as long as there are terrorist organizations on the territory of Iraq, and as long as the security needs of Turkey requires it, as he put it.
The Turkish official called on Baghdad to work to prevent the use of Iraqi territory as a base to carry out attacks on neighbors. Turkish statements come after Iraq filed a formal complaint protesting repeated Turkish raids that violate its sovereignty and endanger the lives of civilians.
The Iraqi authorities summoned the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad to protest against raids by Turkey last Friday.
Turkish air strikes on northern Iraq follow Erdogan's announcement last week of an imminent military operation targeting Kurdish militants in northern Syria.
Turkey regards the armed Kurdish presence on its southern border, whether in Iraq or Syria as a threat to its security, and occasionally launching military operations that violate the sovereignty of the two states.
