Former Head of Integrity: Elimination of EBO files corruption as a functional negligence

The head of the former Integrity Commission, Musa Faraj, accused the Iraqi judiciary on Wednesday of working to classify many files of integrity as mere negligence, pointing out that the problem of corruption in Iraq lies mainly in the executive branch, which interferes with the work of the independent bodies.
"The problem of corruption in Iraq lies mainly in the executive branch, which intervenes in the context of the work of independent bodies and confiscates their efforts," Faraj said in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. "The Integrity Commission refers corrupt files to the judiciary, The executive branch of the Supreme Court issues amnesty orders which means that the executive authority, whether represented by the presidency or ministers, wants the Integrity Commission to act according to its will. "
Faraj explained that "the executive branch has a lot of working contexts in the fight against corruption and reduce it as it has the ability to recover money or return corrupt from abroad," accusing the Iraqi judiciary, saying that "he has been working for 14 years to classify many files of integrity as a mere Functional negligence, and this indicates the lack of a genuine will to fight corruption, regardless of the formation of councils or bodies.
Moussa pointed out that "the Integrity Commission under the Iraqi constitution is an independent body subject to the control of the House of Representatives, while it was linked to the Council of Ministers contrary to the Constitution and then comes today the formation of another anti-corruption council also contrary to the Constitution."
