BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
An Iraqi official said on Sunday that parties were exerting pressure on the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi to push them to not comply with sanctions against Iran.
The official said that "great pressure exerted by some parties and political parties on the government to pay for non-compliance with sanctions against Iran," stressing that "these pressures come from parties associated with Iran specifically."
He pointed out that "the government wants to create a balance and not to be dragged towards Iran, and the violation of sanctions on them, and trying to obtain US facilities and exceptions on this side," noting that "those lobbying wants to violate the sanctions in any case, whether obtained an American exception or not" .
He pointed out that "Abdul-Mahdi works in coordination with the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Halabousi, to find a solution, and get rid of this crisis, which may cause problems for Iraq with Washington
