    Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim on Wednesday discussed regional challenges and the issue of stability in the Middle East during his meeting with US Under Secretary of State David Satterfield. 
    The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "Mohammed Ali al-Hakim received at the headquarters of the State Department David Satterfield, Undersecretary of the US Secretary of State and Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, ​​Joe Howard, and discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and ways to raise them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples. 
    "The importance of continuing bilateral cooperation to achieve the common interests of the two countries," the 
    minister stressed, " praised the progress made in relations between the two countries in order to meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people."
    Al-Hakim expressed "Iraq's aspiration to continue to support all efforts at various levels to resolve the crises experienced by the region, and eradicate the phenomenon of terrorism from its roots." 
    "The visit comes within the context of maintaining high-level contacts between the two countries, strengthening strategic relations, consultation on various issues, regional challenges and providing sustainable solutions to achieve stability in the Middle East," the statement said.

    [Baghdad: Al-Furat News} The head of the Alliance for Reform and Reconstruction, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, warned of the danger of escalation in the region.
    A statement to his office received the agency {Euphrates News} a copy of it that Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, "received the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq {Jinin Hines Blaschart} and discussed the developments of the political landscape in Iraq and the region and the file completion of the government cab. 
    During the meeting, Ammar al-Hakim reiterated that dialogue is the best way to resolve all disputes, warning of the danger of escalation and tension in the region, which in turn is negatively affecting its stability.
