BAGHDAD: The planning committee of the Basra Provincial Council denied that the province received any amount of the British loan granted to Iraq for the development of infrastructure and allocated part of it to Basra.
"We have not seen anything from the British loan and the problem of Basra in the field of reconstruction and services," Nashat al-Mansouri, head of the committee, told Al Furat News.
"We are with solutions to the problems of projects and if implemented and at prices commensurate with the funds of the province will not stand in the face."
On March 6, 2017, Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding with Britain on a loan of £ 10 billion (about $ 12 billion) to develop infrastructure.
