Baghdad - Anatolia - 5 Iraqi Shiite political blocs announced, on Wednesday, their rejection of assigning Adnan Al-Zarfi to form the new government, confirming that President Barham Saleh violated the constitution and the norms of the mandate.
In a joint statement seen by "Anatolia", four blocs, the State of Law coalition (26 seats in Parliament out of 329), the Al-Fateh coalition (48 seats), the National Contract Bloc (18 seats), and the National Approach (8 seats) announced their rejection of a decision Commissioning.
The political blocs said in its statement, "We live with a constitutional entitlement, a ruling whose delay has been delayed, and constitutional violations occurred and transgression of the norms and political contexts in force in the federal Iraqi state, where the President of the Republic refused to assign the candidate of the largest bloc, starting in an unjustified way and announced it officially."
"What worries us is that the guardian of the constitution declares his constitutional violation public, and that he assigns a candidate without the consent of the majority of the blocs concerned," the statement added.
The political blocs made clear their rejection of the assignment, confirming that it "will use all legal, political and popular methods and means to stop this collapse."
The statement called on "the partners in the homeland to stand a clear and open national position to prevent these excesses and what is resulting from them, and to restore matters to their constitutional quorum in order to preserve the national partnership and the interests of all, and for Iraq and the Iraqis to enjoy security and stability."
For his part, the National Movement of Wisdom led by Ammar Al-Hakim (19 seats) expressed his rejection of the mandate.
The political bureau of the bloc said in a statement, "There is the importance of respecting the basic buildings on which the constitution and the political process are based in Iraq, and commitment to promoting cohesion and holding national reunification."
He continued, "The stream of wisdom expresses its objection to the mechanism by which the mandate was adopted and which was adopted in a manner that reflects the indifference of an important number of the main forces in the political arena, despite our confidence in good intentions and appreciation of interest."
On Tuesday, Saleh tasked the leader of the “Victory” coalition, Adnan Al-Zarfi, to form the new government.
Al-Zarfi’s assignment comes after former Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi stepped down from the task of forming the government following his failure to persuade the Sunnis and Kurds to support his cabinet and his government program.
The next government will succeed the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi, who resigned on the first of last December, under the pressure of continuous popular protests since the beginning of last October.
