, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, set a date for next week to discuss the provisions of the Freedom of Expression of Opinion Law.
The media office of the first deputy stated, in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of, that "Al-Kaabi chaired a meeting with the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee with all its members, and a number of advisors in the office, to discuss the completion and resolution of legislation related to the committee's work and put it to vote, the most prominent of which is the amendment of the law. The High Commission for Human Rights and the Law on Freedom of Expression and Peaceful Demonstration.
He added, "Next week, we will set a date for a seminar to discuss the provisions of the Freedom of Expression of Opinion Law, in the presence of the relevant committees, humanitarian organizations, trade unions and relevant authorities to study the proposals put forward and take them into the final version of the law, and present it to vote in the nearest possible session."
And the statement continued: "During the meeting, and after extensive discussion, it was agreed on some amendments in the file of experts concerned with selecting the commissioners in full impartiality."
Al-Kaabi called on the committee to "expedite the settlement of controversial articles in amending the law of the Commission for Human Rights and the need to exclude this law in particular from all political conflicts to present it to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives and include it in turn in the agenda of the Council session soon."
