    The Federal Supreme Court began to surprise everyone with its decisions, especially the last one, including the decision on the issue of oil and gas. Observers did not rule out that the court would agree to the appeal submitted regarding the unconstitutionality of the parliament’s decision to open the door for candidacy for the presidency for the second time, suggesting a return to the candidates who applied the first time.
    And political experts indicated that Barham Salih's chances are greater than others for several considerations, including the exit of his rival, the Kurdistan Democratic Party candidate, Hoshyar Zebari, from the presidential race.
    The director of the “Political Decision” Center Haider al-Moussawi said in an interview: “Most likely, the Federal Court will agree to the appeal submitted regarding opening the door for candidacy for the presidency a second time,” noting that “the tripartite alliance (the Sadrist bloc, the Sovereignty and the Kurdistan Democratic Party) has no choice, either. He disrupts the political process and his deputies do not attend the voting session, and here it will be a blow to the constitutional timing, meaning that the political parties want to continue with this situation that will lead to chaos, or the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, declares the impossibility of consensus and political understanding and calls for new early elections.”
    He added that “opening the door for candidacy for the presidency of the republic again by the Presidency of the Parliament is an unconstitutional decision, and most of the legal scholars have confirmed this, and thus the Federal Court will approve the lawsuit filed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan against this decision to challenge it and consider it an unconstitutional decision and keep the candidates.” who were nominated in the first round.
