Shafaq News/ The agency's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Salar Abdul Sattar, called on Wednesday for cooperation between governments and civil society organizations to advance the reality of people with special needs, while stressing the need to bridge the gender gap and the impact of demographic change.
In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, the ministry's media office stated that the Iraqi minister chaired the first round table meeting entitled "Innovation and technology that advance the rights of people with disabilities", on the sidelines of the work of the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
In the panel discussion, Abdul Sattar raised two questions about how to employ mechanisms of cooperation between governments, civil society organizations, specialists, and individuals with disabilities and special needs.
He also stressed bridging the gender gap, the impact of demographic change, and the desertification phenomenon facing the country's regions and its impact on this fragile segment of society.
He pointed out that the Iraqi government, represented by the Ministry of Labor, sought to overcome the obstacles and challenges that stand in the way of people with disabilities and special needs accessing the services provided to them in an easy manner, by relying on technology and information.
