Shafaq News/ Dollar sales decreased in the currency auction of the Central Bank of Iraq, today, Thursday, to reach 224 million dollars.
Shafak News Agency correspondent stated that, during its auction, today, the Central Bank sold 224 million and 465 thousand and 450 US dollars, which were covered by the bank at a base exchange rate of 1460 Iraqi dinars per dollar, lower than yesterday, Wednesday, when sales amounted 263 million and 683 thousand and 755 dollars.
Our correspondent added that the cash purchase of dollars by banks decreased from the value of total sales to reach 27 million and 600 thousand, while the rest of the amount of 196 million and 865 thousand and 450 dollars went to strengthen balances abroad in the form of remittances and credits.
Our correspondent indicated that 32 banks have responded to requests to enhance balances abroad, and 11 banks to meet cash requests, in addition to 83 mediation companies.
