    [size=45]The Kurdistan Democratic Party's parliamentary bloc is holding a critical meeting with the party's negotiating delegation in Baghdad, prior to the parliament session scheduled for Thursday (12 October 2022), to discuss their last position on the issue of electing the president of the republic.[/size]
    [size=45]The Kurdistan Democratic Party nominated Riber Ahmed for the position of President of the Republic, while the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan nominated Barham Salih for the same position, and the two parties have not reached an agreement to withdraw the nomination of one of them so far.[/size]
    [size=45]A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s parliamentary bloc, Amanj Harki, told Rudaw Media Network, Wednesday (October 12, 2022), that “KDP deputies will meet with the party’s negotiating delegation in Baghdad, prior to the parliament session to elect the President of the Republic, to discuss their last position regarding This issue".[/size]
    [size=45]Earlier today, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirmed that its candidate for the post of President of the Republic is Barham Salih, after the parliamentary bloc of the State of Law coalition announced that the Kurdistan Democratic Party withdrew its candidate for the presidency, Riber Ahmed, and put forward the name of Abdul Latif Rashid as a consensus candidate for the position.[/size]
    [size=45]The Parliamentary State of Law bloc, in a statement, expressed its appreciation and welcome “the initiative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to resolve the political crisis by withdrawing its presidential candidate and supporting Mr. Abdul Latif Rashid as a consensual candidate within the Kurdish House.”[/size]
    [size=45]On the other hand, the spokesman of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Soran Jamal Taher, issued a statement in which he said: “We make it clear to everyone that the official candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan for the post of President of the Republic is Mr. Barham Salih.[/size]
    [size=45]The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, announced during the House of Representatives session, Tuesday (October 11, 2022), that “the House of Representatives session for next Thursday will include one paragraph on the agenda, which is the election of the President of the Republic in accordance with the binding constitutional texts, and the decisions of the Federal Court.” , as well as the requests made by the representatives during the previous session.[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Halbousi asked the General Secretariat of the Council and the Legal Department to provide the deputies with the CVs of the candidates, noting that the presidential election session will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday. 33 candidates are competing for the position.[/size]
