President Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, accompanied by the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union as the first delegation, visited Dr. Abdul Latif, President of the Republic, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.
In a meeting and after congratulating him and wishing him success in his new duties, the delegation affirmed the full support and coordination of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to the President of the Republic in order to preserve the constitutional rights of the Kurdish people and to start steps towards President Mam Jalal's approach represented in harmony between the forces and political parties and the protection of higher interests.
During the meeting, President Bafel Jalal Talabani indicated that the election of Dr. Abdullatif Rashid as the fourth president of the Kurdish Republic in the history of Iraq is a source of great pride for the Kurdish people and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, saying: We will continue our efforts with our friends in Baghdad to preserve the status of the Kurds and work to serve and build a more prosperous future for all Iraqis.
On the new Iraqi government, President Bafel Jalal Talabani said: We fully believe in the constitution and true partnership in running the country, and that the new government has the duty to serve all the people without discrimination by relying on patriotism and equality and to take great steps towards combating corruption.
