Today, Tuesday, the exchange rates of the dollar in Baghdad exceeded 163 thousand dinars per 100 dollars, with the continued suspension of the stock market.
An economic security force is deployed in the Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya stock exchanges in the capital, Baghdad, and exchange offices in the governorates. As a result, office owners refrain from dealing in dollars for fear of legal accountability.
The exchange rate of the dollar decreased slightly yesterday, Monday, following the decision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudanese to relieve the governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, from his post at his request, and assign Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq to run the central bank by proxy, and his decision also to refer the director of the Iraqi Trade Bank, Salem Jawad Chalabi, to retire. And assigning Bilal Al-Hamdani to manage the bank.
The Prime Minister said about these measures yesterday: "The departments that have been assigned to the Central Bank and the Iraqi Trade Bank possess skills and will work to reduce the rise in exchange rates."
The dollar exchange rates are witnessing a huge jump, and a great fluctuation during the past weeks, against the backdrop of measures taken by the US Federal Bank on the currency sale market in Iraq.
