The Parliamentary Finance Committee began discussing the draft law on social security and retirement for workers and the private sector, in a preliminary step to advance the bill and pass it during the current parliamentary session.
Committee member Mueen Al-Kadhimi said that the Parliamentary Finance Committee held its first session after completing the members of the committee and electing its chairman and two deputies, adding that the committee discussed the draft social security and retirement law for workers and the private sector.
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee added that the law is considered the beginning of the development of the private sector, and the most important thing that distinguishes it is the establishment of a pension for the private sector.
Al-Kazemi indicated that the law is a social insurance for the citizen, and there will be a tendency for unemployed youth and graduates to work within the private sector, stressing that the draft law still needs to be reviewed by the Finance Committee, and discussed with the rest of the concerned committees, led by the Labor Committee and civil society organizations.
