    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Parliamentary Oil Committee announced its efforts to introduce modern technologies concerned with preserving the environment within the oil and gas sector, through the “electronic fingerprint” project to support the “green economy.”[/rtl]
[rtl]Committee member Ali Shaddad Al-Fares said, “The electronic fingerprint project is one of the vital projects that are in line with the global development in the energy sector,” explaining that “this project will contribute to allocating a percentage of oil extraction and export operations to preserve the environment, which will have a positive impact on communities near oil fields that suffer from the effects of environmental pollution.” [/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "Iraq is facing an increase in the rates of cancer, allergies and suffocation in the areas surrounding the oil fields," stressing that "the (green economy) is not only a development of the oil sector, but it is an important step to protect the health of citizens and enhance environmental sustainability."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Fares continued, "The enactment of this law will enhance Iraq's commitment to international environmental agreements, which will contribute to improving Iraq's environmental reputation and benefit the residents of the affected areas."[/rtl]
