[size=45]The Pharmacists Syndicate announced that it had taken measures against 68 “fake pharmacies.” While it confirmed that it would continue working to reduce this phenomenon and set legal penalties, it noted that it had issued a circular last month to hold accountable anyone who impersonates the profession and deceives citizens into believing that he is a pharmacist.[/size]
[size=45]The head of the Pharmacists Syndicate, Haider Fouad, said in a press interview that “the syndicate’s curriculum includes monitoring pharmacies licensed by the Pharmacists Syndicate, as well as monitoring fake shops that are trying to practice the profession of pharmacy and that sell medicines to citizens, and the extent of the danger of this situation.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, “We have diagnosed and monitored approximately 68 cases of these fake shops, and we have taken all measures in terms of communicating with the security authorities from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and National Security to take the necessary measures to limit this phenomenon that affects the lives of citizens, and to punish anyone who impersonates a pharmacist in these shops,” explaining that “the procedures include referring those present in them to the judiciary.”[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that “some weak-willed people opened some fake pharmacies during certain circumstances that the country went through, and now there is cooperation with the Ministry of Health to monitor violators,” noting that “these fake shops are sometimes located in places far from cities, and through our follow-up and fruitful cooperation with the relevant authorities from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and National Security, we were able to limit this phenomenon at the present time, and we are continuing to do so.”[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that "the Pharmacists Syndicate is not directly responsible for these fake shops, because the Syndicate is responsible for monitoring the shops that have been granted licenses by it."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that “the union issued a circular dated 6/27/2024, No. 119, to hold accountable anyone who impersonates the profession and deceives citizens into believing that he is a pharmacist,” adding, “We directed the legal representative of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate to file lawsuits against anyone who practices the profession of pharmacy outside the scope of pharmacists, and we are serious about this issue; because the interest and safety of the citizen is very important to us, and therefore we do not allow any negative phenomenon within pharmaceutical institutions.”[/size]
