Today, Sunday, the researcher in the oil affairs, Bahjat Ahmed, reviewed several reasons behind the continued suspension of oil exports from the Kurdistan region and Kirkuk for more than forty days through Turkey.
Ahmed said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", that "one of the most important reasons is Iraq's demand for compensation in the amount of one billion and 471 million dollars resulting from the decision of the International Arbitration Court in Paris, and also Turkey's request to sell oil to it at a discount, similar to what it used to buy from the region."
He added, "According to the information, a joint delegation from Baghdad and Erbil will visit Turkey, for the purpose of discussing these problems, because Turkey does not consider itself violating the agreement with Iraq, and that Iraq did not abide by the agreement and did not export the agreed quantity."
