    The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, affirmed, on Thursday, his refusal to harm the regulatory agencies, obstruct their work, and follow up on the inflated funds of senior officials .
    The authority said in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “with the aim of working to support the private sector in accordance with the United Nations Convention and other anti-corruption agreements, enhancing the role of government institutions in supporting this sector, increasing awareness of the importance of combating corruption in it and clarifying the negative effects.” As a result, the Federal Integrity Commission held a dialogue forum entitled (The Economic, Social and Environmental Impacts of Corruption in the Private Sector), in cooperation with the Iraqi Contractors Union, and attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi, the Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairi, and the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Haider Muhammad Makkiya, in addition to Private sector representatives .”
    In his speech during the forum, according to the statement, Judge Hanoun called on “all official and societal activities to support anti-corruption bodies and agencies,” strongly refusing “to harm them, as a result of their investigation of complaints and follow-up of cases related to corruption and the inflation of the funds of senior officials,” stressing “the independence of these bodies.” About political interference, and the importance of it having sufficient authority and resources to carry out its tasks effectively .”
    He stressed “the necessity of evaluating the performance of government officials and businessmen in a regular and transparent manner, working to improve performance, and enhancing integrity and transparency in the public and private fields,” urging “strengthening and preserving the integrity of the private sector, not engaging in corruption, not being subject to blackmail and paying bribes, and moving it toward governance and transformation.” Digital and transparency between its entities .
    The Chairman of the Authority praised “the fruitful cooperation between integrity and private sector entities, and the work to complete the private sector code of conduct, the draft of which is being prepared in coordination with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and compliance with integrity rules,” stressing that “there must be effective procedures and mechanisms for disclosure.” On corruption and holding those involved in it accountable, and strengthening the role of citizens and the private sector in this, in order to disclose the financial and personal interests of government officials and businessmen, in addition to the need for the private sector to take into account workers’ rights, perform the state’s financial rights, including taxes and fees, and be aware of the laws related to doing this. The sector is then an important part in the fight against corruption .”
    He renewed his call “to unite all efforts to make the ministerial program a success, which he considered to be among the state’s general policies that have a constitutional and legal cover that requires everyone to contribute to it,” warning that “among the priorities of the government program is combating corruption and poverty, providing services, and supporting the private sector, which are closely related to the concerns of the government.” And the aspirations of the citizen on the one hand, and the completion of reconstruction operations, infrastructure development, and achieving prosperity on the other hand .”
