Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: In the panel of authority and responsibility, investigative testimonies are emerging regarding the inflation of the wealth of some Iraqi officials, raising questions that require concrete answers. This matter requires calling on the judiciary and the public prosecution to stand by these testimonies and open serious investigations that reveal the truth behind these inflated and mysterious wealth.
The head of the organizing body of the popular movement, Hussein Ali Al-Karaawi, called on the judiciary and the public prosecution to open an investigation into the inflation of the wealth of Muhammad Al-Halbousi and those close to him, but such calls, like an echo in the distance, have no effect, and the matter does not involve Al-Halbousi alone, but rather many government officials.
It has become a normal thing in Iraq, the sudden increase in wealth among a specific group, which raises questions about its origins and sources. Do these wealth represent the results of personal effort expended, or are they the product of mysterious outlets and exploitation of power?
This financial conflict appears at a time when the Iraqi citizen is witnessing an unexplained economic division, where specific segments of power possess enormous wealth, while many suffer from difficult financial circumstances despite the burdens that burden them.
Legal expert Alwan Al-Kalabi says that the severe absence of the concept of accounting paves the way for wealth to multiply without a clear explanation or effective accounting. There appears to be a noticeable gap between the salaries and the supposed wealth of some officials, and this gap partly lies in the vanishing wealth distribution system and the lack of fair and transparent distribution of benefits.
He continued: It is not acceptable for the Iraqi citizen to remain stuck between meager salaries and mysterious wealth that is difficult to explain, and this requires careful investigations and strict accountability for everyone who possesses wealth that is unjustifiably proportional to their official income.
Economic analyst Ali Al-Sharifi says, “Money inflation shows a clear deviation in economic distribution, as wealth accelerates among a specific class of officials and individuals while many continue to suffer from poverty and destitution.” This financial division negatively affects social stability and hinders the overall growth of the economy.”
Political activist Hussein Hamid believes that the inflation of funds among some officials is an expression of the disparity in opportunities and power in Iraq, and this disparity represents additional pressure on governance processes and public confidence in the ruling authorities.”
The wealth of individuals and officials reflects the clear conflict between the financial lives of many, as the average citizen sees an unfair pattern in the distribution of wealth, and this situation raises serious social repercussions that affect trust and community participation.
