The Kurdistan Democratic Party confirmed, on Wednesday, its seriousness in holding Tehran accountable for the recent missile attacks against a house in Erbil, indicating that it is using economic weapons to punish Iran as well as internationalizing the attacks.
Party member Surat Yazidi said in an interview followed by Mawazine News, “The Kurdistan government will deal with the Iranian bombing in accordance with international laws, and there is seriousness in this direction, and the Kurdish people have practically begun taking steps for an economic and commercial boycott of Iranian goods,” explaining, “Baghdad may not cooperate with Erbil in filing a complaint against Iran before the international community and the Security Council.”
Surat continued, “Iran has not adhered to the UN Security Council resolution issued in 1987 regarding the ceasefire between Iraq and Iran, and it has been attacking Iraqi sovereignty for years.” But the recent bombing represented a case of violence and the killing of civilians,” he said, adding that “international law gives Erbil the right to hold Iran accountable for its evidence of the presence of Mossad headquarters, and to hold it accountable for this aggression.”
The capital, Baghdad, witnessed, during the past days, a movement that brought together several Iranian officials with Iraqi officials discussed the crisis resulting from the Iranian bombing of the city of Erbil and ways to contain it, emphasizing the importance of continuing security coordination between the two countries.
