The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News, “The Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, opened the work of Session No. 25 of the first legislative term, the third legislative year, the fifth electoral cycle, in the presence of 183 deputies.”
She added, "The House of Representatives voted to extend its legislative term for a period of 30 days, confirming the decision taken by the Presidency of the Council."
It is noteworthy that the media department of the Iraqi Council of Representatives published last Wednesday the agenda of today’s “anticipated” session by the political forces and the Iraqi street, which included three paragraphs, the first: a report and discussion (second reading) of the draft law on public holidays. (Endowments and Tribes Committee, Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Media Committee).
The second: Report and discussion (second reading) of the proposed law for the second amendment to the Independent High Electoral Commission Law No. (31) of 2019. (Legal Committee). The third paragraph also included: Election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
