"The United States shared intelligence with our Austrian partners to help thwart a threat to Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said after the singer's concerts in the Austrian capital were canceled this week.

Austrian authorities announced on Friday the arrest of a third man they say is from ISIS, after uncovering a plan to carry out a suicide attack during one of Swift's concerts in Vienna.

"An 18-year-old Iraqi, who is close to the main suspect and has pledged allegiance to ISIS, was arrested in the Austrian capital," Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said on Thursday.

Two other young men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested in the case on Wednesday on suspicion of intending to kill "as many people as possible" during one of three planned shows this week.

The head of the Austrian intelligence agency, Omar Hajawi-Birchner, revealed that the main suspect holds Austrian citizenship, is originally from North Macedonia, and has been affiliated with ISIS since early July. He “made full confessions and said that he intended to carry out an attack using explosives and knives.”

The second suspect is an Austrian of Turkish and Croatian origin who "had been hired a few days earlier by a contracting company that was to provide services at the stadium during the concert."
