As the Kurdistan Parliament elections approach, the differences between the two ruling parties “escalate”

The head of the Political Analysts Association, Hadi Jalo Marai, considered that the ambitions of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani have become a source of concern for the Coordination Framework, prompting them to “exploit mistakes” to export them via social media, while pointing out that al-Sudani does not name parties “for fear of embarrassment.”
Marai said that “there are active forces in the political system that do not look with satisfaction at the way the Prime Minister manages the affairs of government and the state, and they are wary of his high ambitions and try to put obstacles in his way whenever the opportunity arises.”
He added that these active forces “exploit every mistake or unfavorable behavior by parties in the government to make it a story that is accessible to social media,” noting that “these parties are certainly among the forces of the Coordination Framework, and that is why they are not named for fear of embarrassment.”
Marai pointed out that “revealing stories of blackmail, legal violations, or corruption that taint the work of some sectors is part of an organized campaign to weaken al-Sudani’s authority, and a real attempt to block his path to a second term.”
Earlier on Sunday, the Iraqi government responded to what it described as “misleading campaigns” targeting it, stressing its commitment to the law and respect for the judiciary.
Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement, “The government, based on its commitment and legal responsibilities, is following up on the misleading campaigns that aim to obstruct its work in various fields, including the inaccurate information that was circulated that contains innuendo, and some of which included direct accusations against the government regarding cases currently under consideration by the judiciary, as the executive authority awaits what it will issue in this regard, with the government’s continued emphasis on its commitment to the law and respect for judicial decisions.
He added that the government stresses the need to continue fighting corruption and all forms of infringement of the law, in continuous and close cooperation with the judicial and legislative authorities, and that it relies in this regard on the vigilance and awareness of the citizen so that he does not fall victim to those who distort the facts and deliberately mislead public opinion.”
He pointed out that there are those who are working to drag the government and distract it from its national approach through desperate attempts that do not stand up to the real and actual legal procedures that the government is working to implement and support. The past two years of the government’s life have proven the strength of the will in this direction, and the continuous determination to implement reforms and not to be lenient in public rights, no matter the pressures and consequences.
