Field campaign to include private sector workers in social security

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs launched a national field campaign targeting industrial and service projects and shops to urge their workers to register for social security and benefit from the law's advantages.
The ministry's spokesman, Najm Al-Aqabi, told Al-Sabah: The ministry has begun the steps of the national field campaign to introduce the Social Security Law with the aim of focusing its efforts on the categories covered by social security, especially in industrial areas, and urging their workers to register for the optional retirement guarantee, which guarantees a retirement salary for the worker equivalent to or equal to the retirement of an employee in the public sector.
He added that the field campaign targets industrial and service projects and shops in Baghdad and the governorates in which the worker is the employer himself to urge them to register for social security, considering the Retirement and Social Security Law as one of the most important laws enacted during this stage as it serves a wide segment of society.
Al-Aqabi explained that the national campaign came to inform workers in the private sector of their rights and inform them of the many privileges in this law, and that the ministry is working on developing new steps for the campaign and that it will be managed by the International Labor Organization.
He stated that the ministry launched the (My Guarantee) service via the (OR) platform to request joining the optional retirement and recalculating the retirement salary so that private sector workers can apply directly without referring to the Social Security Department, revealing that three thousand and 500 workers were included in the optional guarantee during the past period.
