Shafaq News/ On Friday, citizens in two administrative units in Diyala began setting up a protest tent against the provincial council’s vote to change the heads of the administrative units and replace them with others.

Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that citizens in Qara Tapa district, northeast of Diyala, began setting up a tent in front of the district directorate building in protest against the change of the district director.

He added that a sit-in tent was also set up in the Bani Saad district, southwest of Diyala, in rejection of the selection of heads of administrative units according to the political and family quota system, according to the protesters' description.

Diyala Provincial Council held an emergency session late on Wednesday night that lasted until dawn, with the attendance of 10 members out of 15 members, to agree on and vote on the heads of the administrative units.

A source told Shafaq News Agency, "A number of presidents were voted on, but there are disagreements over others."

Yesterday, Thursday, Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the provincial council voted on most of the heads of administrative units, while the decision on a number of them was postponed to other sessions due to disagreements over them.
