Today, Thursday, the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, directed that the investment residential complexes and major commercial centers in Baghdad be included in the electronic payment system for electricity bills.
A statement from the ministry said, “The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, chaired a meeting with officials of the Iraq Electronic Gateway for Financial Services (Switch), which operates the electronic payment application.”
The statement added that “it was decided - during the meeting - to expand the inclusion of major commercial centers such as malls, private universities, and factories in the capital with the electronic payment system,” calling for “implementing the project in other governorates during the coming period.”
The Minister stressed that “the electronic payment system provides citizens with greater ease and comfort in paying their bills, which contributes to saving time and effort.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Electricity launched - last February - the electronic payment project for electricity bills in Baghdad, in cooperation with the Iraq Electronic Gateway Company, as this system allows citizens to pay their bills easily from anywhere, using any electronic card, with the receipt of a confirmation notification via phone.
