Russia calls for the strengthening of the "digital economy"

President Vladimir Putin announced that the federal and regional authorities in his country will spend this year, almost 200 billion rubles (about $ 3.3 billion) on information technology.
Putin said, during the Strategic Development Council meeting priority projects: "During this year only, will spend the federal and regional authorities on information technology nearly 200 billion rubles, ask to propose specific solutions for improving the efficiency of the use of these funds."
Putin called for the need to find an effective mechanism to enhance the "digital economy", as well as the removal of legal barriers, and the launch of tools to support specialized in the field of digital technologies and local companies.
He stressed Putin, to build a "digital economy" is a matter of national security, saying: "The construction of (digital economy) is a national security issue and Astqlal..anh not separate branches, but the pattern of life and a new basis for the development of the economy and the business sector and the social sphere."
According to Putin, Russia is among the leading countries in the world in terms of the dynamics of the spread of the Internet with broadband and wireless networks, increased in the period 2010-2016 the proportion with Internet access to 74.8% of households [of the total number of households in the country, as well as the average height Internet speed in Russia by 29% in 2016, the level of countries such as France and Italy.
The Russian leader said: "By the beginning of the year 2017 rose [size] the Russian market of commercial centers for storing and processing data of 14.5 billion rubles [ie, 244.8 million dollars]."
