Abadi office: (7 million) citizens receive monthly salaries from the state

BAGHDAD, Aug 6 (KUNA) - Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi's office revealed on Sunday the number of citizens receiving salaries from the state, pointing out that the government's financial obligations have led to austerity measures.
"Seven million citizens are receiving monthly salaries from the state and more than four trillion dinars per month, in addition to other financial obligations of the government to farmers and contractors, and spending on important sectors such as education, health, electricity and basic services," said Saad al-Hadithi, a spokesman for the office. As well as the humanitarian response in the IDP file. "
"In light of these urgent commitments, the government has resorted to austerity policy and rationalization of government spending and pressure the public expenditure of the country."
He added that "the government has succeeded in reducing the dependence on oil imports and reduce its proportion in the public budget to about 85% compared to diversify the resources of the state and activate the role of many sectors in the budget of Iraq and work is under way to make further progress in this path."
