How Abadi treated the "impossible task"

Three years later, the prime minister turned what many in Iraq saw as "an impossible mission" to a success story. Armed, and evicting the bandit gangs of land they captured - about one-third of Iraq's territory - and restored disputed areas in the north in favor of the federal government. "The perception of Abadi was hesitation, indecisiveness, and excessive appeasement for Iraqi politicians, but once he took over the Iraqi government, he steadfastly confronted the huge challenges, including administrative corruption," says Fanar Haddad, a researcher at the National Institute of the National University of Singapore. "We are facing the most difficult mission in the world," said Sajjad Jayyad, director of the Bayan Center for Independent Studies and Planning in Baghdad. Over time, the Abbadi government has achieved many military victories and its like in attempts to fight corruption by launching a comprehensive reform program, with strategic analysts suggesting that Abadi has succeeded more than other Iraqi leaders. Haddad added: "His calm and conciliatory approach and openness in dealing with a wide range of actors [inside and outside Iraq] is what distinguishes him. A poll conducted by an Iraqi polling institute revealed that Prime Minister Abbadi won over 75 percent of the population In that Sunni component of Iraq.
