Iraq discusses the water crisis
13/1/2018 12:00 am [rtl]In a conference held in Egypt Baghdad / Abdul Kanani The Center for Geographical and Cartography Research at the Department of Geography - Faculty of Arts - Menoufia University in Egypt recently organized a conference on "Water Resources in the Arab Countries", in which 91 researchers participated in the research. Some 150 researchers from several Arab countries, including 25 researchers from Iraqi universities, In the headquarters of the Egyptian Geographical Society and the Egyptian Scientific Complex. The Secretariat of the first session, Dr. Abbas Fadil al-Saadi at the headquarters of the Egyptian Geographical Society, where he gave his research entitled (Arab water crisis and the international conflict around and challenges facing). Al-Saadi said in an interview with Al-Sabah: "It was a successful conference by all standards and recommendations were issued, including taking an Arab position to stand against these schemes and constructing dams to store water in anticipation of the emergency and procedures issued from the source countries. . Iraq's water situation The seminar was held to discuss the current situation in the country and the challenges facing it. The symposium was attended by specialists in the water situation in Iraq, namely Aoun Diab Abdullah, Advisor in the Ministry of Water Resources, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Karam, Law and Water in the Ministry. Counselor Aoun Diab discussed the strategic plan of the ministry to address the water situation in the country in the light of developments and challenges surrounding this vital subject. In his speech, Dr. Al-Karam pointed to the imbalance in the legal legislations, including the seven Iraqi constitutions issued from 1925 until the 2005 Constitution, which he saw as giving little importance to water security except with one transient passage, a problem which must be carefully addressed and dealt with because it concerns the fate and the future.
