    The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the return of some 3.3 million IDPs to their areas of origin by the end of January 2018. It confirmed that some 2.5 million people still live in displacement camps or areas far from their original homes. 


    In its monthly report on displacement until January 31, 2018, the organization said thousands of displaced people in Iraq have been returning to their areas since the beginning of this year, and that the return movement is concentrated in the provinces of Nineveh, Salaheddin, Kirkuk and Anbar. 


    "More than 3.3 million Iraqis have returned to their areas of origin, while 2.5 million are still displaced," according to recent figures from the International Organization for Migration (IOM). "The return movements continue. In January, another 125,000 returnees were identified in the four provinces of Nineveh Salah al-Din, Kirkuk and Anbar. "


    The report of the International Organization for Migration that "in the past three years has received the province of Anbar the largest number of returnees thanks to improved security situation and rehabilitation of services and reconstruction of infrastructure." 


    "As Iraq enters the recovery phase after three years of conflict, we must remember that the country's major reconstruction will not only rebuild infrastructure, but also provide for the reconstruction of Iraq," said Gerard White, head of the International Organization for Migration's mission in Iraq. Specialized support for all those who survived the conflict as well as the reconstruction of infrastructure.
